Western Spirit Museum Presents The Cowboys Screening and Discussion

Join Western Spirit Museum Presents: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West for a special screening of The Cowboys (1972), part of the museum‘s Still in the Saddle exhibition and film series. Starring John Wayne, Bruce Dern, and Slim Pickens, this beloved Western follows veteran rancher Wil Andersen as he recruits a group of local schoolboys to help drive his cattle to market after his experienced crew abandons him for a gold rush.

Following the film, noted film historian, preservationist, and author Richard M. Roberts will lead a post-screening discussion, offering unique insights into the film’s production, legacy, and place in Western cinema history. Rated PG, the film runs 2 hours and 14 minutes. Admission is free for museum members and included with museum admission. Program-only tickets are available for $10.
